Custom Home Plumbing

One-Off Homes, Plumbed by Someone Who Has Done Thousands

A custom home is not a tract home with better finishes — the plumbing has to be worked out rather than repeated. That is a different job, and it is one we know well.

Why Custom Work Is Different

On a tract build the plumbing layout is solved once and then repeated across every unit. On a custom home nothing repeats — every run has to be worked out against that specific set of plans, and the decisions made at the underground stage constrain everything that follows. Getting it right the first time is the whole job, because the cost of discovering a problem after the slab is poured is out of all proportion to the cost of thinking it through beforehand.

Planning the Systems In Early

Custom builds are the one situation where the whole water system can be designed properly from the outset rather than retrofitted. Water conditioning can be planned into the layout instead of squeezed into a garage corner later. A tankless water heater can have its gas line sized and its venting routed while the walls are still open, which is where most tankless problems come from when they are added afterward. Given how hard the water is in this valley, building the treatment in from the start is worth real money over the life of the house.

Working With Your Team

We are used to being one trade among several on a build, and to fitting into a programme set by somebody else. Decades of construction work means we know when we need to be on site and what has to be complete before we can proceed — and what other trades need from us before they can carry on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you work on custom homes as well as tract construction?

Yes. Custom work is a different discipline from repeating a solved layout, and it is one we have plenty of experience with.

Can you work directly with my architect?

Yes. We are used to working as part of a build team and to bidding from plans.

Should water treatment be planned into a new build?

In this valley, yes. Designing conditioning in from the start is far better than retrofitting it, and it protects the water heater and fixtures from day one.

Can you plan for a tankless water heater in a new build?

Yes, and a new build is by far the best time to do it — the gas line can be sized correctly and the venting routed properly while the walls are still open.
